Happy (Belated) New Year!

Posted on January 11th, 2012

I’m a bit late, but Happy New Year, and I hope 2012 is starting off well for everyone. I promise to get a new update soon(ish), but for now I wanted to say thanks to everyone who helped make 2011 a great year for Broad Street Massage. Whether it’s once a week or once a year, every client helps to make my practice what it is and helps me to keep growing as a therapist. Many thanks for choosing Broad Street Massage!

Remember, the table warmer is on, and the towel heater is turned up, so take a break from Winter’s chill and book your next session!

Hope to see you soon,

Aaron

Novembrrrrrrr Update

Posted on November 6th, 2011

I’ve been using hot towels at the end of my sessions for a couple of weeks now. I’m still trying to fine-tune it and re-develop the muscle memory it takes to use them smoothly (it’s been about 4 years since they were a regular part of my practice). For now, you can look forward to a hot damp towel applied to the back or face and neck (depending on the flow of the session), followed by a warm dry towel to leave you feeling refreshed and ready to face the world again!

I’m also happy to add a drop of essential oil to a tissue situated under the face cradle; while you’re prone, you’ll be able to enjoy the soothing and relaxing scent of lavender or the clearing and refreshing smell of eucalyptus (which is especially nice for these sniffly Fall days).

And as always, the table warmer is primed and ready now that chillier days are here! This simple device lays under the fleece pad and sheets on the massage table and provides even, adjustable heat throughout your session.

Hope to see you soon!

Special for Returning Clients!

Posted on July 31st, 2011

Hello All!

September will mark one year since I took over full operations at Broad Street Massage from Rebecca Brightly after her return to the Pacific Northwest. It’s been an amazing 12 months and I’m looking forward to providing quality massage therapy to Durham for years to come.

I’m offering a special for anyone who hasn’t had a chance to visit Broad Street Massage since August 1st of 2010: Take 10% off any length session between August 1st and September 30th!

Finding the right massage therapist is a very important and individual experience. I know that I miss being able to receive Rebecca’s excellent bodywork, so if you haven’t been to Broad Street Massage since she left (and can’t make it out to Seattle anytime soon to see her), I encourage you to come in for a visit and see if the work I offer works for you. See what clients have said about their experiences with Broad Street Massage via InsiderPages and GenBook reviews.

In other news, while it may be a bit early to be thinking about Fall, I plan to add heated towels as the weather cools. I originally used heated towels while practicing at a day spa, and I really like the way something so simple can be so awesome! I apply them to the back and/or the feet at the end of a session to leave you feeling refreshed and keep the muscles warm and relaxed.

Also, Mowgli marked his 6th month of freedom from the Durham Shelter. As far as I can tell he’s glad to be in his forever home, and I know I’m glad to have his company.

Hope to see you soon!

All Good

Thanks to Cornelia and Jonathan at Genbook Customer Support for getting the Reviews Page back online (see the previous post). Many of you have taken the time to write a bit about your experience at Broad Street Massage (which I truly appreciate), and I’m glad the link is fully functional again.

Hope to see you soon!

Ah, Technology, How I Heart Ye…

Posted on July 7th, 2011

It looks like my GenBook Reviews page is having a bit of an issue: it’s not showing the actual reviews! I’ve contacted GenBook Support (since it appears to be an error at that end) and they’ve let me know that they’re on the case.

In the meantime the InsiderPages Reviews link is still doing what it should, so if you’d like to read what other clients have said about Broad Street Massage there are still plenty of reviews available for viewing =]

GenBook has been an excellent service, and I expect we’ll be able to get everything back online with their support.

Thanks, and hope to see you soon!

Thursdays Added Starting in June!

Posted on May 19th, 2011

Just a quick post to announce my hours will be changing in June. I’ll be adding Thursdays and expanding on some other days. Keep checking back for more details, but I already have the new times in the GenBook Online Schedule Option, so you can book your Thursday (or Sunday morning) sessions now =)

Hope to see you soon!

GenBook Reviews Added

Posted on April 21st, 2011

Hi All!

I’ve enabled reviews through my online booking service, GenBook. This means that you’ll get a request for a review 24 hours after your first session. I’ve been directing clients to InsiderPages for the vast majority of my reviews up to now, but I like the fact that GenBook does it automatically.

While I do value reviews, I don’t like to make anyone feel obligated to go online and write one up. This is a way for me to make the request without feeling like I’m putting anyone on the spot =]

Online reviews help potential clients decide if they want to give Broad Street Massage a try. While they do benefit my practice, I know how much I rely on reviews for products and services. I like the idea of offering people enough information to make a choice that works for them.

Thanks, and hope to see you soon!

Spring Update

Posted on April 14th, 2011

Happy Spring! With the longer days, I’ve added longer hours at Broad Street Massage. I’ll be available starting at 9am Monday through Wednesday, and I’ll be staying a bit later in the evenings as well.

I’ve also extended the lead time for Online Scheduling from 6 weeks to 8 weeks; this means that if you like to schedule your sessions well in advance, you have even more days and times to choose from.

I’ve removed 30 minute sessions from the schedule. This was a decision I spent a lot of time considering, and I solicited feedback from colleagues and clients. While some truly good work can be done in 30 minutes, it’s not quite enough time for me to feel like I’ve been able to engage the body in a significant way. If you’re having a muscle-emergency and you just need an elbow pushed into that one spot in your back that’s driving you crazy, then give a call and we’ll see if we can work something out =]

That’s pretty much it, folks. Mowgli is continuing to settle in well (see “Additions”), Spring seems to have decided to stay, and more and more people are coming into Broad Street Massage as my existing clients share their experience with friends, family, and co-workers. Many thanks for all the word of mouth referrals!

Hope to see you soon!

Additions

Posted on February 7th, 2011

This is Mowgli (like in The Jungle Book) after a morning at the dog swamp… I mean dog park. He came home with me from the Durham Animal Shelter on January 12th, and so far he’s one of the best dogs I’ve had the privilege to know. He’s low-key, has settled in well, and is the inspiration for many, many walks (we’ve clocked at least 5 miles a day since he came home). It’s been a long time since I’ve had a dog, and the fates smiled on me when they led me to Mowgli.

So that’s the big addition in my life… and I acknowledge the gratuitous use of my business site to share personal news =}

The addition directly related to Broad Street Massage is that 120 minute sessions are available for booking! I’m a believer in taking one’s time with bodywork; trying to do too much too quickly is rarely a recipe for success. For a long time I’ve done two-hour sessions with clients who requested it, but I haven’t had it available as an option through online booking. I’ve finally added them to the GenBook menu when you book online. I don’t have it added to the Google Checkout page yet, but one step at a time, right? =)

Whether it’s for 120 minutes or 45 minutes, I hope to see you soon!
